Ingredients for baking pork steak in the oven:

 1 kilogram of pork steak

¼ cup of dry white wine

 ¼ cup of orange juice

 4 tablespoons of lemon juice

 3 crushed garlic cloves

2 teaspoons of salt (or to taste)

black pepper and sweet or smoked paprika (to taste)

 fine herbs (to taste)

 rosemary (to taste)

500 grams of polka dot potatoes (sausage type)

small onions (cut in a half moon)

 2 tablespoons of honey

 olive oil (to taste)

How to make pork chops in the oven:

Start by seasoning the picanha with salt, black pepper, paprika, lemon juice and fine herbs.

Tip: Do not remove the fat cover from the sirloin steak, as it will guarantee the juiciness of the meat when roasting!

Add orange juice, chopped garlic, white wine and rosemary.

Tip: If you prefer, replace the rosemary with thyme.

Place the picanha with marinade in a bag, so that the seasoning penetrates better into the meat, and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

Tip: Turn the bag over from time to time to ensure the marinade penetrates all sides of the meat. The longer the meat stays in the marinade, the more flavor and juiciness it will have!

After that time, place the meat along with the marinade in a refractory greased with olive oil. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees - remember that, depending on the oven, the temperature may vary.

Tip: Pork steak in the oven: fat down or up? Place the meat on the roasting pan with the fat facing up, as shown in the photo.

While the steak is roasting in the oven, place the potatoes in a pan with water, salt and saffron to pre-cook. When they are slightly soft, drain them and set them aside.

Remove the steak from the oven after 40 minutes, remove the foil and place the pre-cooked potatoes and sliced onions beside the meat, drizzling with the marinade. Top with more rosemary and drizzle with olive oil. Return to the oven (without the foil) for approximately 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

Tip: From time to time, sprinkle the meat and potatoes with the refractory marinade.

When the picanha is roasted, transfer the meat, potatoes and onions to another ovenproof dish or serving dish. With the broth left in the pan, prepare the sauce by adding 2 tablespoons of honey and cook over low heat until it reduces a little.

Tip: If you want a less bittersweet sauce, just add more dry white wine and let it reduce over low heat. Another option would be to add pieces of pineapple to the sauce.

Before serving the meat, let it rest in the oven for a few minutes. Then, drizzle with the prepared sauce and serve your pork steak in the oven with potatoes and onion!

Your oven-baked pork steak with orange sauce is ready to be savored. How about serving it along with a dried fruit farofa? It will be wonderful! We hope you enjoyed the recipe and bon appetit!
